Where it goes, and what color
This pair decides the material, so it comes first — everything after it is shape.
Specialty finish — priced at $/g.
Shape
The form of the shade itself — its outline, its footprint, and how big it is.
Straight, flared, domed or bellied. Tapered and domed shapes need a different top and bottom width, so picking one sets those for you — adjust them below.
Each dot sets the shade’s width at that height. Drag left/right to shape necks, bellies, and flares. The top dot is the socket end.
Drag each dot toward or away from the center to shape the outline. The socket bore stays round.
Vented is lighter and cleaner-looking — concentric cutouts trim filament and weight, and it is the better choice on a wide top. Solid is a closed disc.
Texture
The surface pattern printed into the wall. It changes how the shade catches light — and how it glows when lit.
Inner diffuser
Optional. A second printed shell inside the shade that hides the bulb and evens out the glow.
A second printed shell that slips over the light socket inside your shade — hides the bare bulb and spreads the glow evenly. Auto-sized to your design.
Closed hides the bulb completely and spreads the glow. Open lets the light fall straight down — brighter on the table below.
Fittings
The socket it fits and the hardware it hangs from.
Fits any standard E26 socket. Bulb not included — any standard E26 LED bulb works (LED keeps the printed shade cool).
Finish
How finely it prints — the layer height, and what that does to the surface.
Standard — 0.6 mm layers, cleanly printed. Our friendliest price, and the finish most shades ship in.
Premium — 0.4 mm layers. Finer lines, a smoother surface, and a more even glow when the lamp is on. It spends longer on the machine, so the extra is real print time rather than a flat surcharge.

Every shade is generated as a complete, print-ready model and reviewed by a maker before printing. Your design is yours — we never resell, reproduce or reprint it.
How the Designer Works
Pick a silhouette and dial in height, diameters, texture, and twist. The model rebuilds live as you go.
Every change is measured for printability — wall overhang, socket fit, build volume — right in your browser.
The exact skin area drives material and machine time, priced on the same engine as our custom-print quotes.
Add to cart and we print your shade vase-mode on calibrated machines, hand-finish it, and ship with tracking.
Configurator FAQ
Is my design actually printable?
Yes — the engine builds a closed solid and checks overhang, socket fit, minimum feature size, and build volume on every change. If something won’t print, Add to Cart is replaced with a manual-quote link so a maker can help.
What is “vase mode”?
The shade prints as a single continuous spiralized wall with a solid cap for the socket — no seams, translucent, and light. It’s the ideal method for lampshades and gives the clean ribbed look.
Standard vs premium finish?
Standard uses a 0.6 mm layer — faster, with a subtle texture. Premium uses a finer 0.4 mm layer for a smoother surface; it takes longer to print, so the price reflects the real added machine time, not a flat surcharge.
Do I get the print file?
Your design is yours. We never resell, reproduce or reprint a design you created or a file you sent us. Every shade is printed to order in our Connecticut studio and hand-inspected before it ships.
What about the cord, socket, and mounting?
Replacing an existing shade? Select shade-only in standard E26 or candelabra E12. Upgrading your space? Add a matching plug-in or hardwired pendant kit guaranteed to fit your shade. Also available in standard E26 or candelabra E12.
Something I can’t make here?
Bigger than the build volume, a shape outside these presets, or a multi-color piece? Use our custom printing quote and a maker will spec it out.
