Carbon-fiber composites are our performance tier: base polymers reinforced with chopped carbon fiber for dramatically higher stiffness at lower weight, with a distinctive matte-black technical finish straight off the printer.
PA-CF vs PETG-CF
We stock two composites. PA-CF (carbon-fiber nylon, $0.48/g) is the stiffest material we print — nylon's toughness with carbon's rigidity, ideal for drone frames, RC chassis, and load-bearing brackets. PETG-CF ($0.18/g) trades a little ultimate strength for easier dimensional accuracy and lower cost — perfect for covers, brackets, and cosmetic-technical parts that must stay flat and true.

PA-CF prints at $0.48 per gram in carbon black — the finish is the aesthetic. PETG-CF prints at $0.18 per gram in six colors, including black. $15 minimum order.
Design tips for carbon fiber
- Orient parts so fiber alignment (print direction) follows the main load path.
- CF composites are stiff but less impact-tolerant than plain nylon — avoid thin cantilevers.
- Holes print slightly undersized; spec reaming or +0.2 mm for precision fits.
